Whatever it is I think I see, becomes a …
roof, or siding, or pergola. It happens when you’ve been a home owner for a while. You stop seeing houses. Instead you see them only as whatever component piece is most relevant to your current big-budget home improvement project. I know this because all the houses in our area have suddenly become dimensional shingled roofs. I don’t see doors, windows, bricks, siding, porches, just large spans of shingle. Two months ago, all the houses disappeared except those rare ones with metal roofs as we contemplated whether the price of a metal roof would be worth it for our house. A month ago we decided that it wouldn’t and that we like the look of the newer dimensional shingle roofs almost as well–although I am still attached to the idea of a copper colored metal roof.
I was out for a relaxing 25-miler last Saturday, and all I could see was “deep shadow pattern” Estate Gray, Teak, Brownwood. I guess this is the curse of the home owner.
