Kitchen ceiling demolition, day 1

Isn't it funny how a small house disaster, like a leaky pipe seem to generate several house projects of a much larger size.

We've finally managed to fix most of the other minor house disasters, and now we have time to start on the project of replacing the pipe that caused the leak in the upstairs bathroom that was raining down onto the kitchen celing.

So, with my trust drywall saw, I started cutting holes in the kitchen ceiling to pinpoint the leak. That part was fun, until we realized that we're probably going to have to cut a large enough hole to actually crawl up into the eve of the second floor to get to the back side of the bathroom wall to replace the entire drain pipe.

That led to our thinking of replacing the entire kitchen ceiling, which, in turn led to thinking about completely revamping the lighting in the kitchen.

And to think this all started with a small leak in an upstairs bathroom drain pipe.
