Kitchen ceiling, days 3 & 4
Over the weekend we finally made some time to do more work on the plumbing. On Saturday, armed with my new favorite toy, I carved out the remaining piece of the copper drain pipe from the back side of the bathroom wall. The drain was vented, and so it had a galvanized pipe running up through the roof of the house. I finally got brave enough to just cut this thing to free the final copper T joint.
Sunday, however, wasn't as successful. It was my first attempt at installing the new PVC, and I decided to try to use one long piece of PVC in a spot where the several shorter lengths of copper had been used. That proved to be a disaster, and I wasted about three hours before giving up and deciding to just cut smaller sections of PVC. I ended the day with a minor success by getting one of the smaller sections connected to the union joint with the shower drain and toilet stack. Thank goodness for small victories.
