Stained glass
A few years ago, my parents got us this beautiful stained glass window. Since then, we have been trying to find a glass artisan to restore and resize it to fit into the picture window in our dining room.
A friend recommended Kelly Art Glass, and we couldn’t be happier with the result! It turns out that we should not be surprised. Kelly Art Glass has done many large scale restorations in the Pittsburgh area, including Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shadyside.
They actually had to disassemble the window almost entirely because the lead and cement were so loose. They had to create entirely new side panels, with complimentary medallion pattern and glass colors—matching 80 year old glass is no easy task. Originally, gold border was thicker and the window was smaller, so they had to re-cut the gold border to have enough gold glass to use in making a new border to surround the new side panels as well.
And here is the result. Amazing. Beautiful.
