New kitchen ceiling, day 2

2006-02-22_18-00-20_001

Bill finished the ceiling, and we are so happy with it. With the distressed crown moulding and new fan, the kitchen finally looks like a livable space rather than a construction zone. Lor has since redecorated the face of the soffet as well, which really makes the kitchen look complete.

When we start this project, we had thought that we wanted a tin (or, more cost-effectively, a faux tin) ceiling. Some of the products on the market now by Armstrong and ACP are just amazing. They look great, are reasonably cost effective (compared to having some real tin hammered out!), and seem to be fairly easy to install. In the end, though, we decided to go with the beadboard, thinking it would be the best match for the look of the kitchen. I think we made the right choice, and as an added bonus, the beadboard was much less expensive.

The new under cabinet lights just arrived from Pegasus, so I know what I’ll be doing this weekend.
