wicked

Last Friday, Lor and I went to see Wicked at the Benedum (wikipedia). It was a fantastic show. The story is a lot of fun, and there are a few plot twists and surprises as well, especially at the end. The cast was great, the music and vocals excellent. The sets were impressive, especially the lighting.

The two lead female roles stole the show. Kendra Kessenbaum was totally in character as G(a)linda (“The Ga is silent”), even when singing.

The absolute highlight of the show, Lor and I agreed, was Jenna Leigh Green (how appropriate, no?) as Elphaba. Green is the understudy but you would never know it. She brought down the house.

The show closes on March 5, and is currently sold out in Pgh, but you can still get seats via the lottery.

So run, don’t walk!
